Born in 1987 in Cizre, Halit Acar graduated from the University of Sussex, UK in 2011 with a degree in Economics and Management. Since 2012, as the General Manager of Universal Acarsan, he has been coordinating and managing all operations of Acarsan Holding in Iraq. During this period, he personally managed the project development, construction, infrastructure, post-construction technical equipment procurement, implementation and all other processes of 5 different education and research hospitals in Hilla, Karbala, Nasiriyah, Missan and Basra with a total capacity of 3000 beds and a construction area of 400.000 m² and put them into operation within Acarsan Holding. During these years, Acarsan also carried out all similar works for 3 oncology hospitals in Ramadi, Hilla and Basra. Acarsan Holding has added 2 general hospitals with a total of 200 beds and a construction area of 60.000 m² in Düceil and Tuz Khurmatu, and a 400-bed training and research hospital with a construction area of 82.000 m2 in Kut city and is currently managing a total of 11 health complexes, 8 of which have been completed and 3 are under construction.
Between 2015 and 2020, in addition to being the General Manager of Universal Acarsan, he led the team that realized ICONOVA, one of the most distinguished construction projects in Turkey and the Middle East. Built on 255.000 m² and consisting of 7 towers with a height of 162 meters and 7 towers of luxury residences and street shops, he coordinated all construction processes of the project and managed areas such as technical equipment, mobilization and material procurement.
Since 2020, among other duties, he is involved in the management processes of the Geothermal Power Plant and Solar Power Plant Project Greeneco, a subsidiary of Acarsan Holding. In addition to being the General Manager of Universal Acarsan, as a member of the Board of Directors of Acarsan Holding, he is also the director of all investments of the Holding in the construction, health and energy sectors.
Halit Acar was elected as the President of DEİK/Turkey-Iraq Business Council, where he had previously served as an Executive Board Member and Vice President of the Business Council, at the General Assembly of DEİK Business Councils held on January 15, 2022. Simultaneously, he was also elected as DEIK Middle East and Gulf Region Coordinator Vice President. In his first year in office, the Business Council was awarded the 'Media Visibility' award and in his second year, he was awarded the 'Outstanding Performance' award. On January 20, 2022, at the General Assembly of DEİK Business Councils, he was re-elected as the President of DEİK/Turkey-Iraq Business Council and as the Coordinating Vice President of DEİK/Middle East and Gulf Region. On May 25, 2024, he was also elected as a member of the Board of Directors of DEİK and he is still serving.
Acar served as a member of the Board of Directors of Gaziantep Football Club between 2017 and 2023 and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Gaziantep Police Force Hockey Club and a member of the Board of Trustees of GAGEV (Gaziantep Development Foundation). Halit Acar, who is married with two children, is fluent in English and intermediate level Arabic.
